Croeso i Dosbarth Meithrin!
My name is Mrs Bailey and I am the Nursery lead. I am very lucky to share Meithrin with Miss Stroude. Together we make up the Nursery Team.
I joined the St Helens School family over 14 years ago and have been situated in the Foundation Phase for this time. I live with my husband Mr Bailey, I have a daughter called Emi and a son called Joe. I also have 2 dogs Jasmine and Obi.
In Meithrin we endeavour to provide a safe, happy, caring, secure and stimulating environment. We are a busy and friendly Nursery with lots going on. We support the children’s learning through the Foundation Phase Curriculum. The children also learn how to be good friends, to be independent, to listen and to communicate effectively and we encourage every pupil to be healthy, enthusiastic and confident.
Afternoon Nursery begins at 12:45pm and finishes at 3:15pm
Our morning begins when we gather for prayers on the carpet choosing a Helpwr Heddiw who places the cross for all to see. We enjoy nursery rhymes and songs which encourage our speech and listening skills in both English and Welsh. Focused tasks and free play fill the morning with exploration, sensory, imaginative and academic activities, within the nursery building and also the outdoor learning environment. We enjoy a healthy snack every day sat together at tables in our groups. At snack we encourage good manners and quiet chat with our peers, enhancing our social skills. We finish our day with a story and thanking God for all his love.
In Meithrin throughout the year we will focus on a number of different topics and texts. It is through these topics that we develop our skills in Literacy, Numeracy, Expressive Arts, Health and Well-being, Humanities and Science and Technology.
We strive for the children to enjoy their experience in nursery by making it fun and exciting as it is the introduction to their school life and education.
Everything we do in Meithrin is encompassed by our Catholic ethos and our school motto……
‘Together we Believe, Achieve and Succeed.’
- PE- Our PE day is on a FRIDAY. Please ensure your child comes dressed in their P.E kit.
